Biography

We must re-home our beautiful little black lab Maggie.
She is 3 years old, high energy, very treat-motivated and even more ball/stick-motivated. She is one of those dogs who will retrieve balls to the death. She is very smart and easy to train. She has lived her life in our home (lots of time inside) and in our large, fenced-in yard with our other 3 yr. old yellow lab. She is very affectionate and not afraid to look you in the eye. We have no children in town, and since she was born and ‘raised’ during COVID her social exposure was less than we would have liked. Meeting new humans is very exciting for her. So, her energy is sometimes a little more than a little person likes at first. She is comfortable around humans after the initial introductions.
BUT – she is very reactive around unfamiliar dogs that engage with her. And this has turned into aggressive behavior. Twice she has bitten another dog when meeting it when both were off leash. My husband and I love to take our dogs cross country skiing, hiking, fishing, and hunting with us. But we are not able to do this anymore with Maggie due to her unexpected and potentially aggressive behavior toward other dogs she may encounter in these environments. More importantly, this summer, our son and his young family and their dog will be moving to town and living in our home for an extended period of time (a year or more). For these reasons we have decided it would be best to find a new home for Maggie.

Maggie is a purebred labrador retriever with papers. We have kept her up on all the necessary vaccinations and medical check-ups.
