The Lazin Animal Foundation Founder, Terry Lazin

Thank you to The Lazin Animal Foundation for supporting Home To Home. The Lazin Animal Foundation is currently the single largest supporter of Home To Home, and it is an honor to be part of their legacy.

The Lazin Animal Foundation was established in 2011 by its namesake and founder, Terry Lazin. Before succumbing to ovarian cancer in 2015, Terry’s mission was to prevent the abuse, neglect, suffering, and euthanasia of treatable and adoptable homeless dogs. Her mission and passionate work continue through the legacy of her foundation and dynamic partnerships like those with Home To Home.

After an early career in government service, Terry and her beloved husky-collie mix, Lindsey, moved to New York City, where she practiced corporate and real estate law. In a bold career move in 1988, she became President and CEO of The Lazin Group, her national marketing and business consulting agency. She built a clientele of Fortune 500 corporate clients, which sought her innovative solutions for their marketing and sales challenges.

Terry also served as a strategic marketing and licensing consultant to the International Association of Fire Fighters, with more than 300,000 members in the U.S. and Canada. Her mission was to raise awareness, licensing opportunities, and revenue streams — all of which were sorely needed after 9/11.

Throughout her professional life, Terry always thought that there would be plenty of time to create a way to rescue the furry creatures that had always signified unconditional love and true companionship for her. However, in the summer of 2009, the future changed drastically when she was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. She quickly realized that she had to seize the moment to make rescuing and rehabilitating homeless animals a reality while time remained.

For the next six years, Terry fought on with her canine family including two treasured border collies named North and Dakota, and a sweet, rescued Australian cattle dog named Zoey. Founded in 2011, The Lazin Animal Foundation became an integral part of Terry’s life purpose, fighting spirit, and legacy.

In 2015, Terry passed away sharing her passion for hard work and unconditional love throughout her final days. Since, The Lazin Animal Foundation has marched forward honoring its mission and Founder through a committed group of family, friends, and colleagues, and a growing network of animal welfare organizations throughout the nation.
