Biography

Max is a good 13yo boy who loves treats and spinning in circles when he’s excited. He’ll find a few favorite nap spots, loves to play keep-away with toys and often entertains himself by tossing tennis balls around. He knows sit and shake. We often find him napping on his back with his fluffy belly on display with his little tongue sticking out. He’s more of an independent pup who tends to do his own thing. He enjoys being pet and nearby you, but he's not a fan of hugs or being held for longer than necessary. He does not like to have something he’s eating be taken away and is more successful with “trading” whatever he has for something else you offer him. Like most small dogs, he sometimes has an accident in the house but is otherwise potty trained and will go outside in any weather. He does well at the groomers but doesn’t really approve of being brushed at home, and does better with nail trims when he has a lick mat to distract him. He completely ignores the cats in our home and has gotten along with all dogs he’s met. We previously had a guinea pig that he didn’t pay attention too, however they never interacted outside the cage. He chases wild animals in our yard, so may not be a good match if there are any free roaming small animals in your home. We have a 3 year old he’s always done well with, however, we always monitored their interactions closely. In the last year he’s become a bit hard of hearing but is otherwise healthy with no major issues. Max can't be left alone unattended outside if your yard is not fenced, he has wandered away a few times when our gate was left open.

We’ve had Max for 4 years and unfortunately our other small dog we had before him has gotten increasingly more aggressive towards him over space or food. Luckily Max doesn’t react back and just runs away, but he deserves a home where he can fully relax and be spoiled. Max would make a wonderful addition to just about any family.
