Meet Havi! When we rescued this sweet boy, exhausted on the street in Little Havana, Miami (thus his name!) we truly hoped he would be finding his forever home with us. After six months, we adore Havi and have been working diligently on his separation anxiety and reactivity to other dogs, with the help of an awesome Pet Behaviorist and Trainer (she thinks he is having amazing progress too!). However, recently our other dog (also somewhat of an alpha personality boy) and Havi no longer wish to co exist together. We are grateful for the time we have had and to have saved this amazing boy...and that is what helps us during this difficult decision to have to rehome Havi.
Havi is fully potty trained and is also progressing in other areas of obedience training quite well. He knows many commands already and has proven to be a quick and intelligent study.
He will thrive in a home where he is the only pet. Someday I would think, with what we have seen, he may do well with other dogs ( a female perhaps, or another male in later years) but for now that scenario will likely not work so we wish to avoid that for him. He is reactive to other animals. He has been an absolute people lover to be sure, and has met and loved children as young as 12. We do not know about younger children as he hasn't been exposed to that with us thus far.
When he first came to our home, his separation anxiety was crippling. We have made really good progress in that arena thus far, but it will still be an issue he will need help and patience with. For that reason, a stable home with consistency and ideally someone who is home most of the time will be the easiest and best transition for him.
We completed a Wisdom Panel DNA test as well on Havi and learned he is 14 different breeds. Glorious mutt! Two primary breeds are American Pitbull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier (as you could guess by that sweet face!). We will share all that information forward with his new family of course.
We are firmly committed to finding the right fit for him and will do whatever we can to help YOU make this work if you believe he is the forever boy for you!
