Biography

Rudy is the sweetest dog we've ever gotten to know. He is a 7 year old corgi mix who loves to give cuddles and love. Getting to know him these past 5 years has been wonderful and his personality has really shown through as a positive and loving friend. He's a silly boy that enjoys play time with his humans, but also loves to just with his family and enjoy their company. His demeanor is very peaceful, but as a rescue he has his anxiety as well. Rudy was bred as a hunting dog in the South and was found living on his own in the woods. The shelter that took him in was unfortunately a kill shelter and within a year of being there, his time was up. A shelter in New Jersey decided to bring him up to the tristate where he would have more of a chance to meet his adopters. I met him two weeks later and have had him ever since. Unfortunately, with my life taking so many different turns and transitions, I haven't been able to give him a stable consistent life. My mother has been taking care of him but isn't able to tend to his every need. I imagine him having a more enjoyable day to day in a home that has more consistency and the ability to play with him more often than I can.

Being a rescue, Rudy does have some behavioral concerns. He tends to be anxious around strangers, not relaxing until he knows they are friends. He does not get along with dominant dog breeds. As a hunting dog his prey drive is high so living with animals of other species is not ideal. He also tends to get overly excited around young children making it too much to have him around them.

With all of this in mind, we have grown to know Rudy as the most loving and loyal dog who has added to each member of our family's lives in a unique way. His adaptability has always made it so I haven't had concern when I was able to take care of him. He is house trained, and has training around basic commands.

Rudy will be the most uplifting member of any family, and we hope to find the best home that'll love him as much as he loves others.
