Biography
Kelsey is a 5 year old Queensland Heeler/ Black Lab mix. We got her at the animal shelter when she was 4 months old. Kelsey is a great dog with tons of personality. She's very smart. She's very loving to people. She is very playful with young, submissive male dogs. She loves to go on hikes, play catch, and watch sheep herding videos on TV. No, seriously! She talks to us, and says things like" I want some", and " I want more" when getting table scraps. If I tell her to be patient, she will say "awww", sit down and wait patiently. She can be pushy at times, and bark to try to get her way.
For the first three years, she fit right into our pack and got along well with everyone. But as soon as she turned three, she became very dominant and possessive. She began attacking our other two females, and sometimes our male. She has also attacked our cat. For the past three years, we have had a gate in the middle of the house to keep the smaller animals away from her. Nothing we have tried has helped and we're at our wits end. Instead of being one cohesive pack, our house has become very stressful and we can no longer enjoy doing pack hikes, or lazing on the couch as a pack. We hate to give her up because she's a great dog when she's by herself or with a submissive male, but she just doesn't get along in a pack.
Kelsey is spayed, up to date on shots, and micro-chipped. She needs a home where she can be the only dog or with a submissive and playful male around her own size. She loves to go for walks and hikes, but the hikes can't be too strenuous because she has minor issues with her back knees. She doesn't jump well and cannot climb rocks. She has an orthopedic leg brace which she wears when we go on walks or hikes. She also has a harness style backpack which she wears to carry her/ our extra water because Queenslands need a job. Kelsey has been around children as young as four with no issues, but she does get jealous if other dogs get attention and possessive over toys, so she would be better with older children.
