Biography
Nika was raised as a puppy by a family member, and came into our lives when she was around 3 years old. The family member did not take the best care of her, so she was skittish and aggressive. She is very sweet, loving and loyal to her owner, she is just slow to warm about around other people and animals. Over the years, we have worked hard on socializing Nika, and getting her comfortable around others. We adopted 2 puppies in 2021, and although it was a rough transition, the 3 of them quickly became best friends and were able to live in harmony together. Nika has since been able to go to the dog park with us as well, which was normally not a good place to bring her. She just runs through the park, playing with other dogs. She is also much friendlier to other people as well. It's been really great to see her progress over the years. We welcomed our daughter into the world a year ago, and she has since become very active, playful, and wanting to be all over the dogs. Due to Nika's nervousness, she is a little uneasy around a baby. She has nipped at our daughter twice now, when she was trying to pet her. We have to put our daughter's safety first, and given Nika's history of reactivity, we can't risk something more serious happening. Nike is truly a very loyal and obedient dog, all she wants to do is please you. She just unfortunately has certain tics that are not her fault. We think she would thrive in a home with someone who understands dogs, does not have kids, and ideally no other pets. She deserves nothing but love and attention. We just aren't able to provide that type of life for her anymore.
