Biography

In June 2023, we found Mila and her puppy scavenging in a ditch in the city of Marlin, TX. It took us about two weeks to gain her trust. Her puppy was skittish and although she welcomed the food we provided, she did not want to be touched. Mila on the other hand, welcomed human touch and soon was presenting us with her tummy for belly rubs.

By the time we decided to bring Mila and her puppy home, the puppy had disappeared. Mila has been with us since that time and she sleeps in a large two silo dog run. We have brought her inside our home on one occasion, but she was somewhat uncomfortable. She loves to be near her humans so getting her used to inside living should not be too much of a challenge.

Mila loves going for long walks and has become so good on a leash. She loves the squeaky and chew toys we bought her and is quite entertained by them. She has been exposed to another dog her size and she loves to romp and play. She is probably a little too exuberant for smaller dogs! She has not been exposed to children, but we suspect she would do well with them.

Two weeks after bringing Mila home, we took her to the local vet to be spayed and receive her vaccinations. She was found to be heartworm negative and is currently on Simparica Trio and heart guard. We love Mila and we believe that we've brought her to the point where she trusts humans again and can be adopted into a loving family. She loves being loved, long walks, belly rubs and sleeping at your feet. Since Mila has been living on the streets for most of her life, she is a little rough around the edges but being such a young dog, she can be trained.

Mila is approximately 1 year old and is 40 lbs.
