Biography

This is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do... We are looking for a new forever home for our six year old American Bulldog, Tank. He is a healthy, energetic and very loving boy. Unfortunately being in the military, we are PCS'ing to overseas in 10days, and despite all of our efforts, we are unable to bring him with us. His breed is banned and even if by some miracle we got him there, we would not find housing because of his breed. This has not been an easy decision, and I'm trying very hard to keep it together even writing this because I feel like I am failing a member of my family, which is what he is to us. I had initially found him a home which fell though last night. I am besides myself.

Tank came into our lives five years ago while we lived in Tampa. He did not have a good life before - he was outside in the heat and rain all day, never being walked or socialized, and if he was inside he was confined to a crate and we believe he was physically abused by his owners.🥺

Tank's ideal home would be as a solo dog to a family with no small children who understands his breeds' stubborn but loyal and overly loving nature. He needs a big yard or farm to run around in with some teddies and toys to throw around and the occasional stick to chew. Most of all Tank needs a family that will love him and let him cuddle with them on the couch and not be set up for failure being in an environment with other dogs or small children under 10.
He is absolutely great with all adults and has never bitten or hurt anyone or anything but he is a big, strong boy who does not realize his size or strength.

He tore his ACL on Christmas of 2019, which we had surgically repaired and he has fully healed from. He is neutered and fully up to date on all vaccines and heartworm + flee and tick meds. He does have some allergies which we have kept at bay with Cytopoint injections and tends to get ear infections if he gets his ears wet from being bathed or swimming.

A few fun facts about Tanky:
•He loves ALL raw veggies especially peppers and Brussel sprouts.
•He can tell the time with his stomach and never misses meal time. His favorite thing in the world is food.
•He is scared of champagne bottles.
•He sounds like Chewbacca when he is trying to get your attention.
•He LOVES butt scratches and laying upside-down in the dirt, especially on a sunny day to tan his pink belly.
•He will climb up onto your shoulders on the couch and try wrap himself around your neck like a cat, while resting his chin on your head.
