Biography
Gigi is an amazing companion to have!
We adopted Gigi earlier in 2023 from the shelter knowing she needed a good home. We quickly learned that she loves to play and run around outdoors more than anything. She has made a few new doggie friends and plays with them all the time by wrestling and chasing them around. She has her preferences towards some dogs over others and has shown dominance issues towards other dogs as well.
She’s a great dog to have if you love the outdoors or have a large yard. Unfortunately my partner and I are living in a smaller apartment and cannot provide for those needs very well right now.
She is perfectly house trained and used to being home alone for longer workdays. She loves to go on all adventures you go on (hiking, biking, long walks, etc.). She has gotten way better at leash walking since we got her. She is not ready for off leash walks on busy trails yet.
Gigi is a great dog but does have some behavioral concerns. The main issue is dominance and resource guarding. Mainly, she can sometimes bark/lunge/nip and strangers that enter her owners home or space. She can be dog reactive towards dominant or darker dogs. This is the main reason we are rehoming her besides living in a small apartment. She has some needs that we can’t provide for. She should get behavior and obedience training because we feel she needs it and we can’t provide it.
All in all, Gigi will love and take care of you if you promise to do the same for her. She needs to know you are in charge and likes positive reinforcement. In our opinion the best home for her would have no other pets unless they are like her, a large yard for lots of playing and running, and a chiller/ less busy family.
