Biography
Jaeger is a very sweet and gentle elderly German Shepherd. She enjoys people and pets, especially cats. She was originally raised to be a police dog, but was too nervous for the training, so in 2013 my grandparents took her in. She lived with them for 7 years, and has lived with me and my wife since 2020. She is great company, even if she can be needy at times. She is very chill, often spending most of the day laying in one spot in the living room. She has a loud bark, but has never harmed anyone.
Being an elderly dog, she has a few health concerns you should be aware of. She has cataracts in both eyes, so she can't see where she's going. You'll need to help her navigate new surroundings by snapping your fingers to show her where to go. She has joint pain, and I give her glucosamine regularly. It's good to take her on walks but not to push her too hard. She's house broken but occasionally has had bowel control issues. Her issue is that she does not like to get up and go to the door to let you know she needs to go, because of her joint pain. So you must make her go outside. If you take her outside twice a day, she should be fine. She also responds very well to finger snaps, and if she is in your way just say "excuse me Jaeger" and she'll move.
We have greatly enjoyed our time with Jaeger, but are moving several states away, and cannot take her with us. It would be difficult for both us an her. She is a loving dog that needs an owner that will understand her needs and will be patient with her. She a great dog for someone who loves the companionship of a dog, but also wants peace and quiet in the home.
