Biography

Pancake is a husky mix. He plays well with all dogs/people, is confident, athletic, and a very sweet boy. He is also more than I can handle. He is destructive in a way that I have not experienced in a dog before. I have 3 other dogs whose minor destructiveness I was able to train when they were younger.

Pancake does not live a good life with me, he is healthy, and fixed, but spends a lot of time in a crate. He needs an owner with the time to go for long walks with him and/or an escape proof yard. Potential owners will need to be able to invest time/money in addressing his destructiveness, or be able to balance his crate time with human or dog play/exercise time.

Simply being home is not enough, he will sneak off and chew/scratch through drywall, wood, plastic and even some metal objects. He would be a great dog for an active owner, someone with other dogs he can play with, or an individual willing to take him to the dog park regularly. Dogs under 15 lbs would not be a good fit for him, he is not aggressive but is agile and relative to a tiny dog, plays rough. You will need to set boundaries with him jumping on you or guests; he is very athletic and can easily reach an adult human's head height, for dog people it’s not a big deal, but most hoomans/guests won’t appreciate it. He needs training that I cannot provide, and unlike my other dogs has to be crated due to his boredom/destructiveness. This dog and I are trapped in a vicious cycle where neither of us is happy.

He loves his dog siblings, but spends a lot of time caged with my job and simply not being able to supervise him like a hawk when I am at home. He is young and has so much promise. He is not a good “first” dog for someone, unless you are willing to enlist the help of a trainer for his destructiveness/put the effort in to wear him out, he is very athletic. Not aggressive with other dogs/humans/children, just very excited and high energy, partially due to the fact that again, his life with me sucks. I have failed him, but also learned a lot from him. He needs a new home and a chance to shine.
Please give him a chance. I really don’t want to take him to a shelter but have not had luck with finding him a new home and am feeling kinda hopeless about our situation.
