Tucker is a sweet 4 year old male mix dog whom we love but unfortunately need to rehome. We recently did a foster-to-adopt trial through a shelter prior to adopting Tucker. He has been in our home about two months, and we did a trial for 3 weeks.
Prior to this, he was in a foster home (through a shelter) for about a year and a half. In his foster home, he was around 6 dogs and 3 cats, and did well with all of them. In my home, he gets along great with my cat and other dog. The only factor that is different within our home is our boys (aged 7 and 12.) Even though our boys treat him well, we feel he will be happier in a home without children. We've noticed the past two weeks that he is anxious around our kids. We think this may be due to the fact that kids can be noisy, and Tucker doesn't like loud noises. We took him to the vet twice and they also feel he would be happier in a home without children.
Two years ago Tucker had heartworm while at the shelter. Even during the treatment for that and despite kennel stress, he was kind to everyone. Even vet students saw him as a patient. Tucker would do well with another calm and friendly dog (he likes to sleep on them and clean their ears!) Or he would also do well as a solo dog. He does well on walks (doesn't pull) unless a car goes by. He is not possessive nor aggressive about toys, food, or dog beds. He loves car rides! He also loves milk bones dipped in a little peanut butter. He has a fear of loud noises (such as Thunder) but does well when given Trazadone and crated during them.
We love Tucker and are incredibly disappointed that this hasn't worked out as we planned despite our research to get a second dog, however we know the right person/people are out there. He will make someone very happy with his kindness, soulful eyes, and loyal companionship. He loves to smile, too! He doesn't do well in a shelter, so we are trying to rehome him via social media.
