Biography
My beautiful boy Lotus is a 5 year old heeler/terrier mix. This means he is high energy, and even higher prey drive. I adopted him from a shelter when he was about a year and a half old. Since then, I have watched this dog overcome so much. From behavioral issues and ruthless separation anxiety, to a smart, bouncy, hilarious boy, who can be off leash in certain settings. That said, He likes to dig, he likes the garbage, and if he is particularly anxious, he has been known to snack on furniture. I truly believe all of these are a result of my inability to give him the exercise he needs.
All of this in mind, it is important to understand that I am devastated to even have to consider rehoming my best friend after years of helping him grow. The reality is, There is a home out there that would be more suitable for him than my own. A home with land, and owners who are willing to love him and work with him the way I have. Other dogs in the home are certainly a possibility as he loves to play, but he is only good with dogs who are good with him. And can be unpredictable in that regard. In past years, I’ve had to break up a dogfight or two in which lotus was not the aggressor, but the reactor.
Although he has adapted as well as he can to small apartment life, it’s not fair for a dog with his potential to spend his life alone. I want more than anything to give him a home that does not rob him of the opportunity to be a dog, but my current situation is doing just that.
