Biography
Mika is one of the sweetest and gentlest animals I’ve ever met! She will make a wonderful, loving companion and is waiting patiently for her perfect new home. The day we met this timid girl from New Mexico she wouldn’t even come out from under the bed to meet us, but we decided to take a chance on her based on her foster mom’s description of her personality. When we got her home, she hid beside the toilet in our powder bath for a couple of weeks only coming out to quickly eat and then return to safety. It was clear that this sweet kitty was pretty traumatized and not treated well in her past, poor girl.
Fast forward 3 years…Mika is a happy, healthy, thriving kitty! She loves the safety of her cozy spot on the couch and has learned to venture out and explore other sunny spots to lounge by the windows anytime she gets. She is always rubbing up on your legs for pets and loves to snuggle on your lap by the fire, make biscuits and play with her basket full of toys. She also likes to be brushed and have her belly scratched anytime you’re passing by. She’s a very good girl and only scratches her cardboard scratchers and consistently uses the litter box now. Mika never bites or scratches – she’s the most gentle and loving creature! She is very food motivated and will talk to you to let you know if dinner time is approaching…or maybe it’s time for a treat!
Mika is now 5 years old (6 in November) and does well with consistency. She will thrive in a quiet, loving environment without other pets or kids. She’s currently on a very low dose of anti-anxiety medicine which is sprinkled on her food once/day and just helps her to feel safe, happy, and brave! She’s an indoor kitty only and doesn’t seem interested in going outside but loves to look out the window and watch the day go by. She is so deserving and once she settles into her forever home, her very playful sweet personality really shines.
