Biography
Kipper was born on 12/30/2017 and adopted at 8 weeks old from the ASPCA in Greensboro, NC. I named her after my favorite cartoon dog! Kipper is a wonderful, beautiful dog. We love how she's always been a cuddly dog and seemingly always knows when you need a hug and even gives kisses. She's so happy, loving, affectionate, and loyal. Kipper has always guarded our family and home. She would do well with someone who needs company & security who can also handle her weight at 60lbs.
Kipper is also incredibly well-mannered. She's always managed to keep her long tail in check despite her excitement! She also knows not to beg for table food, instead choosing to politely sleep under the dinner table for meals. She hasn't ever been a big fan of being on furniture either and we've never had an issue with her tearing up things, chewing on our stuff, or getting into things she shouldn't. In addition to being well mannered, she's also very intelligent. She knows:
- Sit (say sit pointing at her back)
- Lay (say down)
- Jump (say up)
- Paw (say paw)
Kipper has also mastered the following:
- Will come to you if you snap your finger
- If she barks at the doorbell, quiets down after "no"
- If she does get on furniture, she responds to "off"
- Crate trained and prefers to sleep in the crate at night but also has a bed outside of her crate that she enjoys
- House trained, will sit at door when ready go in or out (Fence preferrred)
- Leashed trained with a martingale collar ONLY
Kipper has a few dislikes too. The washer and thunder make her nervous but she doesn't whine. She hates peanut butter and doesn't like kong toys at all. She does love chasing and chewing on sticks but knows not to swallow. She also likes running but is usually done after 20 minutes. Kipper LOVES plushie toys, soft treats, and big bones. Kipper DOES NOT like to rough house. We have never rough housed with her before and she doesn't like it all. She will get defensive if you try to rough house with her. Kipper loves kids but can be mouthy from the excitement. Kipper could get along with older kids with more boundaries. As with any other dog, slow introductions to new men and children are a must. We do think she should be the only pet in the house. She rarely plays with other dogs, but mostly keeps to herself, especially at the dog park.
