Biography
Lucy has been our family's pet for the last eight years. She grew up with two adults and two older children (now young adults). She is a short haired Saint Bernard and has lived on our country property her whole life. She has a 3 acre invisible fence, so she has enjoyed an outdoor existence. She also spends some time with us indoors and loves to be petted. She thrives on attention but can spend hours alone. She has grown up with cats. She is also a hunter outdoors (chasing squirrels, occasionally digging for gophers, etc).
She needs a home with a confident, loving large breed handler who can appreciate her heart of gold.
She is very friendly but is also protective (uniformed drivers especially, but also strangers). She acts as a guard dog for our family and property. She hasn't bitten anyone, but has nipped people who are new or nervous. She can get along with other dogs, but if they are aggressive (growling), she will tussle.
She understands commands and is very trainable, loyal, and sweet. Her tail wags happily whenever we walk by and her belly and chin is always available for a rub.
We are also very open to a foster home situation where she can be cared for until April of 2024, when we will be able to provide a home for her again.
