Biography

Checo is a plott hound-mix. I found Checo wondering around my neighborhood. I took him to the shelter, but no one claimed him. I adopted him knowing he would most likely be put down if I didn't. When he was neutered, the vet noted that he had BBs in his groin area, the majority have been removed. He weighed 35 pounds and had kennel cough when I adopted him, so he was kept in a bedroom until he recovered. He takes medication and is positive for heartworms. After recovering, he had no desire to be by himself. Even though he is being crate trained, he frequently exhibits anxiety when he is left in the crate.
Checo needs a compassionate and loving guardian. My dogs and Checo struggle to get along. Based on the wounds close to his ears, he most likely had to protect himself in order to survive, he is reactive to other dogs, but not to humans. I took him to a dog behaviorist, who informed me that Checo is a good dog, he just needs to engage in positive experiences and interaction with other dogs. I am a Soldier and the Army is transferring me to Germany and I am unable to bring Checo with me. I already have two dogs, Indiana and Kylo.

Checo is a cuddle bug and is very calm; he nudges at my son and me with his large nose until we pet him. He is a very laid-back, easy dog who prefers to be where you are. He loves car rides!
Checo is really affectionate and just wants to be petted. Regardless of his former life, Checo is deserving of a caring and responsible owner and a safe environment where he can thrive and be loved. Please give Checo a chance.
