We first adopted cooper after his previous owner (a close friend) could no longer care for him, and it was either my home or the pound sadly, so we figured we would give it a shot. Cooper is the absolute sweetest but he definitely takes some time to warm up to new people. He was terrified of everything for a good few weeks but slowly warmed up to most things after some time passed. Unfortunately we could not account for his dog anxiety as we live in a home with 4 other college guys and did not think that it would be this bad for him in such an environment. Cooper will definitely thrive in a home with another dog and a small family. When coming home from work he does this dance with his front paws where he waddles back and forth and bounces, so it is definitely something to look forward to after a long day. He loves to give kisses and has never bitten or scratched anyone before despite his past of abusive owners. The old guy needs a quiet home to live out his remaining years and despite his age he has tons and tons of energy and can still break out into a full sprint (he must be leashed!). There is a chance he may need to go on anxiety medication but this is something his previous owner never addressed. With another dog in the home he will generally be okay but if he is left alone without a bark collar he will bark for several hours, so having a bark collar or another pet is a requirement.
