Biography

Kona is a male shepherd mix. He is about 1-1/2 years old. He is chipped, neutered, and kennel trained. He has learned how to sit with treats :) My family adopted Kona about a year ago and he had really taken a shine to me and my 13-year-old daughter. He has such a quirky trot and loves to go outside in the mornings. Unfortunately, in the year that we have had him, he has not come around to my husband and is absolutely terrified of him. My husband has tried to give treats and just sit with him, but Kona is not fond of certain men. I have a 17-year-old son that Kona runs from, but after a year Kona is just starting to stay in the same room for a little time with him. That took a while. Kona has hurt himself trying to run away when either my son or my husband comes home from work or school. I do believe that before we adopted him, he was severely abused by a male and has not recovered.

Kona is a very good boy and deserves a home that he is comfortable in and where he can relax. My husband and I adopted him as a playmate for our little dog who is a male and they get along great. They play outside and run around together. We have a 6-year-old non-neutered male. Sometimes our little dog will guard the dog door and not let Kona inside, which tells me our dog is being territorial. I am hoping that Kona can go to a new home that he can enjoy and be loved, because he deserves it and he doesn't need to be scared all the time. Unfortunately, trainers and myself believe that he is just not fitting into our family dynamic.
