Amigo is a 7 year old, neutered Idaho shag(Airedale/Australian shepherd) he is a Shaggy loving guy! He doesn’t shed a lot, for how long and shaggy his hair is! He is about 55 pounds.
Amigo has been in the same family his whole life- he has been both a ranch dog and a family/inside dog. Amigo prefers not to be a ranch dog. The perfect home I believe- would be a home with an active owner, daily hikes and lots of one on one attention. A home with other animals is ok, but if it’s a home with other dogs you’d have to make sure he gets along with the other dog. Amigo has recently in the last year(after a relocation to a new area) had several altercations with another family dog and has had to be kenneled since. He is overall a very friendly dog to everyone, just not the dog he’s currently homed with unfortunately. Lots of measures have been taken to try to solve the issue.
His personality is very playful and goofy- and he is an extreme athlete with endless stamina!
He has great manners, potty trained, crate trained, sits, comes, heels, lays down, stays, and does not chew- even on chew toys. Loves to ride in a pickup and knows how to. He loves to swim, he used to swim laps in our pond on his own time. He’s a great pal on a horseback ride, and is great around horses. Amigo does not hardly ever bark.
Amigo is a complicated very intelligent dog. Complicated because he is so wonderful, but has a few quirks. Besides being grouchy at our other family dog he is a master escape artist. Not a dog you can keep in a kennel very easily. He has dog out, clawed his way out, and even climbed out of a 6 foot chain link kennel. You have to remember though, he’s used to his freedom and roaming the farm.
I love amigo so much and I just know there’s got to be a better situation for him out there, with a family and dog friend that he actually likes.
Please message me with questions, I have nothing to hide as I truly love him and want the best for him. Everyone who meets him loves him!
