History:
Hi, I’m Sweetie! I’m currently living with my sister, Happy, and our foster parents who saved us from getting thrown into an animal shelter in a small town in California when our first owner passed away. They’ve been taking care of us for two months since then and have been training us and socializing us so we aren’t as scared when we meet new people and dogs anymore! We’ve learned tricks and have learned some good manners and have learned how to go to our crates when we get stressed out or when we’re told to, especially to sleep and when our foster parents have to go to work. After learning all of this, we think that we’re ready to find our new forever home. Happy and I are hoping to stick together as we have gone through our whole lives together and are able to keep eachother calm. We’re so excited to meet you!

Personality:
I am the calmer one between Happy and I, but that doesn’t mean that I am any less affectionate! Happy and I will often compete for attention, but will ultimately end up side by side, next to our loved one. I love being pet, but get scared easily, so if I get pet too rough, I might yelp and back away for a second. However, my love for you is so strong that I’m usually back to asking for pets very soon afterwards! It’s very important to me that I feel safe and don’t have too many hands trying to pet me or pick me up before I’m ready. So please be ready to take your time getting to know me before you pick me up too quickly or try to pet me too quickly!
As I said, I’m more mellow than Happy is. I’m usually laying down and relaxing or watching her play with her toys. I’ll get very excited for treats and food, however! Sometimes, if I’m being given food and being told to “Sit” and “Stay” before I can eat, I’ll let out an excited bark when I’m told “Ok” to eat!
Some of my favorite things to do are go on walks around the neighborhood with Happy and our loved ones. Happy is usually pulling around and sniffing as much as she can, and I’m just happy to be walking next to you! Sometimes, if Happy finds an especially good sniffing spot, I’ll run over and join her, but most of the time, I’m walking next to your heels! Occasionally, I’ll try to walk in between your legs. I feel safe there. But if you don’t like that, you can just redirect me out of there and I’ll walk beside you again.
Just so you know, I am potty trained, but sometimes I get a little confused when it comes to potty pads or if something new comes into the house. To be clear, I know how to use potty pads and prefer to go potty outside, when you let me or take me on a walk. But sometimes, I’ll get on a potty pad with my two front paws and think that my whole body is on it. So I’ll think that I’m going on the pad, but I’m actually going right next to it… This only happens sometimes and if you spray some scent on a part of the pad so that I’m definitely fully on there, everything will go well! Also, if there’s a new rug in the house or even a plastic bag that’s been laying around for too long, I’ll think that it’s a new potty pad and will use it as so!
Lastly, in my first home, I was attached to the hip to my loved one. Because of this, I’ve gotten pretty used to people being around all the time and don’t really like being left alone. I’ve learned to be a little more calm when my foster parents leave for work, but still would rather be in a home where people aren’t gone from home for way too long. We’ve been living in our foster parents’ apartment, but were used to having a big yard to run around in. So while we would be happy with you in an apartment, we would LOVE to have a yard! Otherwise, we would be happy enough being able to run around on a walk with you!
Thanks for reading about me! I can’t wait to meet you!

Cohabitation:
I am bonded to my sister, Happy so I’m used to being around other dogs! Sometimes, I get scared if they try to introduce themselves too quickly, but just like with humans, I’ll warm up to them!
I don’t think I’ve ever lived with a cat before, so I don’t know how I feel about them
I’ve lived with men and women, but have never lived with children before. I see them on walks and I seem to like them when they get close!

Favorite Activities:
Being pet gently
Going on walks
Eating!
Snuggling next to you
Snuggling next to Happy

Why am I looking for a new home?
After my first loved one passed away, Happy and I were at risk of being put into an animal shelter in a small town that was very secluded. There was a risk that we wouldn’t be rehomed together or even at all. Thankfully, our foster parents were able to take us into their home before that could happen! We’ve loved living with them, however they cannot take care of us for the rest of our lives. We’re looking for someone who will love us forever!

Medical:
I’m fully vaccinated and up to date with all my shots
I’m neutered
My teeth are in bad shape and will need to be cleaned by a vet or it could affect my long term health (and it makes me stinky!!)

Summary:
I’m bonded to my sister, Happy, so I’d prefer to go to my new home with her! The most important things to remember about me are that I’m a small, neutered male who is 8 years old. I love cuddling up to you, but will definitely need some time and patience from you as I adjust into my forever home. This will also go with learning where you want me to potty! Other than that, I’m up to date with my shots, but will need to get my teeth cleaned in the near future to avoid any health problems! I’m so excited to meet you and fall in love with you!
