Fred needs a new home. Fred is a big boy who turned two on Valentine's Day. Probably Catahoula Leopard Dog and Shepherd mix. He was born to run and hunt and has a lot of energy. But unfortunately, he needs to lead a somewhat sedentary life due to a congenital elbow problem. He had surgery in December to repair his elbow dysplasia, but the Vet says he should not stress his leg too much. He does well on neighborhood walks but an hour at the dog park leaves him limping for a while. I give him glucosamine tablets daily and he will always need this supplement to curtail arthritis.

From the photos you can see that he is always on alert watching for people, dogs, cats, squirrels. Yet Fred is bored most of the time because he does not get nearly enough exercise here with me because I'm 77 and my back goes out when I walk him.

He is super smart and a top notch watchdog. Thinks he's a lapdog and has a great sense of humor. He is very loving and once he gets to know you he will be your best friend forever.

He likes men and women adults, but I don't know how he feels about kids.
