I hope this letter finds you well. I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart, as I face the difficult decision of finding a new home for my beloved companion, Chico. Over the past three years, Chico has been an integral part of my life, bringing joy, love, and companionship. However, recent circumstances have led me to realize that I am unable to meet his needs adequately.

Chico, a 3-year-old male coonhound rescue from Mexico, entered my life as a sweet, loving, and playful puppy. Despite his challenging past, he quickly became a cherished member of our family. Together, we embarked on adventures, from backpacking trips to lazy days on the beach, forging unforgettable memories. He was a very friendly, loving, goofy, approachable companion during these special moments.

However, as life threw unexpected challenges our way, I found myself torn between caring for my terminally ill mother, who requires my full attention, and addressing Chico's escalating reactive behavioral issues. Despite our best efforts in training and rehabilitation, Chico's aggression towards strangers and children, stemming from a past incident, has become increasingly difficult to manage.

While I have sought professional guidance and implemented structured routines to address his needs, recent developments, including a change in our household dynamic, have regrettably exacerbated his behavior. Despite my earnest attempts, the lack of consistent follow-through from others in our household has hindered Chico's progress, leading to a distressing incident involving our neighbor getting hurt.

Recognizing Chico's specialized needs and his potential for a fulfilling life in the right environment, I am committed to finding him a loving home where he can receive the care and attention he deserves. Chico would thrive in a setting away from frequent visitors, preferably on a farm with other dogs, where he can undergo professional behavioral training to address his anxiety.

I am prepared to cover expenses associated with his transition, including veterinary care, food, medication, and behavioral training. Additionally, I am willing to enlist the support of a dog behavioral specialist to ensure Chico's successful integration into his new home.

It pains me deeply to part ways with Chico, but I am hopeful that by reaching out to compassionate individuals like yourself, I can find him a second chance at happiness. If you or anyone you trust is interested in providing Chico with a loving home, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for your consideration. Your support during this challenging time means the world to me.

Sincerely Cindy
