We took Daisy in about an month ago from someone who was concerned she was being abused. She is a wonderfully sweet pup and loves to be nearby her people. When she first arrived she was very very scared and skittish. She hid under the porch for over 7 hours and it took us a bit to get her to come out. Since then she has learned basic commands and uses the doggy door we put in. Rarely barks or whines but she will let you know she is not pleased in her crate when it’s time for bed. Usually quiets down within 10-15 minutes or so. Doesn’t bark- just whines a little. She doesn’t complain much when I put her in there for quiet time. She’s 6 months old. Likes to take walks and will help you put her harness on happily and waits on her bed to be hooked on her leash to go out. We are working on learning to tap the bells on the door to notify she needs a potty break. I’m super impressed with how smart she is!!
She sits in her booster seat in the car with no fuss and usually just goes to sleep. I really have no usual puppy issues with her. The only issue I have is getting her to come inside sometimes if we let her run out back through the doggy door. Seriously- like for HOURS and a couple of times overnight. She just prefers to be outside. That is harder for me. She is usually asleep on the chair on the covered deck in the morning when I come downstairs around 5 am and she will come in at a that time. I was told when she was dropped off that she was a “barn dog”- perhaps she still has that in her. She isn’t aggressive with men- just very scared and hides the first few visits.
She needs someone who is patient with her fears, and experienced with this kind of anxiety.
I will include her bed and crate and toys as well as food etc. she does need to be spayed but has seen the vet and is UTD on vax and has her rabies shot.
She really is a sweetheart 💜
