Introducing Neo, the most lovable, unique, intelligent, hilarious, and headstrong terrier mix that you can find. He is 3 years old, but still looks and acts like a puppy. He was rescued from Tulare County Animal Services, so not much is known about Neo before he was rescued, but you would never know that he had such a rough first year of his life because he is so resilient and eager to be loved.

His DNA test shows that he is a terrier mix breed with Yorkie, Chihuahua, American Eskimo Dog, and Cocker Spaniel genes.

Neo loves: Doing zoomies, playing with his mini toy hedgehogs, snoozing in the sun, and playing tug. He also LOVES food and is food motivated, which makes him a quick learner - he knows basic commands and obedience; he recently learned to give his “paw” and “high five” on command. He is an explorer on a leash, stopping to smell the roses, and like a typical terrier he loves to chase squirrels and birds. Most importantly, he is a snuggler - if there was an Olympic Medal for world class snuggler, he would win three gold medals; he will curl up as close as he possibly can when his humans are sitting and laying down. If he isn’t snuggling next to you, he becomes your personal shadow - a “velcro” dog if there was ever one; he loves to follow his humans around the house so that he doesn't miss anything new or interesting, or a small crumb on the floor.

Because of Neo's tough first year of life, he struggles with separation anxiety, stranger danger, and reactivity, but has never bitten anyone and is getting better after working with trainers and behaviorists. He has severe anxiety when left alone at home. He is very protective of his humans, and will loudly bark at new people who approach or enter their home - he is particularly skittish around men who he does not know. But, no matter his initial reservations, he warms up and becomes your best friend once he gets to know and trust you.

He would do best in quiet homes with no kids and owners who work from home or who are home often. He loves other dogs and cats, so he is fine being left alone if there are other pets in the home.

Neo is looking for owners who are committed to training him, loving him, and willing to help him build his confidence.

Thank you for your interest in the noble Neo - he is ready for a new family to love and cherish him.
