Mr. Darcy (his rescue name straight from Pride & Prejudice) was born September 2022. Lived with a family since puppyhood that did not socialize or train him and dosed him with CBD oil thinking it would “calm him” which it didn’t. He is a Husky (75%) / German Shepard (25%) mix , UTD on vaccinations, and 17 months old currently. He is my first ever rescue. I couldn’t allow him to be put down because his family didn’t know what to do with him.
I rescued him October 2023. He went with my friend at Britt’s Board and Train for 5 weeks to decompress, and receive some basic training and socialization (Britt’s has all sorts of big dogs Darcy could run and play with). November 2023 he came to my home. It took a week for him to trust me. It took a month for Darcy to adjust to my husband. Darcy still has not 100% adjusted to my 18 and 13 year old, so right now I’m saying a home with no children OR a home that is a training facility that can work with Darcy so he can trust men & children again, and learn to not resource guard toys. He would be fantastic for a lady to love and protect. Unknown his reaction with cats and small dogs.
Right now he is mainly outdoors where is a happy Husky. He is so affectionate. Darcy loves to give kisses, excited to see me, very treat oriented, we play catch with his fishy squeaky toy. He doesn’t like to share his toys with other dogs, yet can learn. He loves walks! He is a total Husky with digging for treasures and “talking”. It’s so funny! He would climb onto your lap if you let him. He needs his own “pack” to live his best Husky life.
