John Oliver is a 5 1/2 year old female cockatiel. She is tame, knows basic commands, and has that notorious cockatiel sass. She loves foraging for millet, staring out the window while chewing on tissues, feeling the breeze, hearing local birds, but most of all she loves being a lap bird.
John is fully flighted and has gained great flight control. John scares easy and when her wings were clipped she would still try to fly out of fear and then fall and hurt a foot or leg. It is important for John's health and happiness that she remains full flighted.
Although she can fly, her preferred mode of transportation is riding on her humans shoulder. John has been a solo bird for the last 5 years and often needs more time, companionship, and entertainment than her two humans can provide. She is very social and does not do well kept in a cage all day. John requires a lot of enrichment and engagement. John is not used to kids.
John's ideal new home would be with an experienced cockatiel owner with a flock for her to join OR with a loving human who works from home or is retired and can spend at least a few hours per day with her.
