Otis is a 7 year old male Husky. We saved him from a high kill shelter about 2 weeks ago and we are looking for his forever family to take him home. We do not know much about his past but from what the shelter could tell us, we believe he had a family and was somehow abandoned. Otis is a very good boy, he is extremely friendly and loves people and other dogs. He has not met a cat to my knowledge but I doubt there would be any issues there. He is not food aggressive, walks very well on the leash (unless he sees another dog, he gets very excited and wants to go say hi), and is quickly learning commands and now knows how to sit and stay. He is on the larger side and weighs 62lbs according to the shelter. The issue in our home with him is that we have another Husky that was rescued from a puppy mill in Ohio by a local rescue. She is not an assertive dog in any sense of the word and while Otis is not aggressive in any way, he does like attention and will come over to get pets if he sees her getting any attention which often causes her to run away or into her crate. This is no fault of Otis’s but is making it very difficult on our other dog, he simply wants love and she is not assertive enough to stay and receive it when he comes up to us. Otis would do extremely well in a home as an only dog or in a home that has more assertive dogs, which we unfortunately can’t offer him. The majority of his day is spent laying around the house but he loves to go on walks and is very interested in what you are doing. He does enjoy toys and has yet to destroy any and has not been destructive in the house in any way. If you have any questions or would like to meet him to see if he is a good fit please reach out to us.
