Our Great Pyrenees Daisy is needing a new home without small children. She has been very gentle around our 2-year-old since she (our daughter) was a baby, but this week she bit our 8-month-old baby over a piece of food, and we can no longer keep her around our children. She has bitten my husband and I over food before as well, so she needs an owner who could potentially train her or at least use positive reinforcement to deter her from resource guarding. She is fine if not indifferent around other dogs unless they act aggressive. (Her foster home before us had 2 other dogs.) Someone familiar with or open to learning about this breed and their independence and working spirit would be ideal.
She is generally very mellow, sleeps a lot, and loves to be outside. She is a good guard dog and barks at neighbors walking by or people at the door.
