Knox is a three year old, altered male Akita. I’m probably a little bias, but he is stunningly beautiful (full double curl in the tail) very friendly, attentive, low maintenance, sweet, gracefully dorky and just the best floof I’ve ever had. I am simply devastated that we need to find him a new home. Knox needs a strong owner both in temperament and physical strength. We trained him as a family dog adhering to obvious hierarchy cues and tons of love and socialization. Knox loves to play with other large dogs but does need to be the dominant dog. He has a medium prey drive and is very easily trained. A few things to know about Akitas: they are very receptive to environmental cues and adjust easily. Therefore they need to have a subtle structure of pack dynamic with the owners and family being the alpha parties. Knox has never shown aggression but he is dominant towards new comers who are smaller than him. Akitas have a double coat and “blow” their coat twice a year, but shed relatively little in between. They should never be shaved. They are very clean, Knox keeps his socks nice and white and their non-oily coat means they don’t have the typical “dog” odor. Akitas do best with a lean meat, vegetable diet. Knox stays at a healthy, trim weight with minimal exercise being fed twice daily. Knox needs a home without small pets or kids. Only the most loving, permanent home will be considered. He is an amazing, loving, sweet boy who deserves the best home dog could have.
