Caramel is a very sweet and extremely talkative kitty who loves walking on you and telling you about her day! We originally adopted her and her brother as a rescue pair off the streets. She'll be shy at first, but once she's settled in her new home she warms up to people very quickly.
At around 4 years old she began showing symptoms of an unknown and untreatable neurological condition that presents as rather pronounced vestibular ataxia (imbalance) in her back legs and occasional muscle locking when leaning back. As a weak and wobbly kitty she can't jump or walk well and falls quite frequently, so she needs a bit more TLC and attention than the average cat.
We are only rehoming her because of increasing tensions between her and her littermate. When he tries to play with her or groom her, due to her sensitive condition, she becomes defensive and they end up getting into serious fights. When they would have these fights, they used to get along over time but as her ataxia worsened, fights would break out more and more to the point where they haven't gotten along in months despite our every effort. We are doing our best to keep them separated currently, but it's not practical to do forever. We are hoping she can go to a home where she will live stress-free and perhaps be provided better care for her condition than we can currently offer.
She's litter trained (high walled boxes recommended due to her condition; we can provide one of her current ones if you'd like) and up to date on her vaccines. Not microchipped. Please intend to keep her indoors only :)
