Two-year-old, 35-pound, smart, snuggly, strong-willed heeler seeks experienced, training-knowledgeable family!
Boundary pusher! Pony has scared half the Rover sitters he's visited and been kicked out of dog daycare. He's not aggressive but plays very hard and doesn’t let up without a good relationship with you. Pony play has included a lot of growling and mouthing.
Will need savvy, experienced human support learning how to be around other dogs again, he's been a solo dog the last year and a half. He's been to a 3 week board and train as well as some 1:1 training. Balance trained and treat trained.
He has a strange water drinking behavior (polydipsia/polyuria) and takes desmopressin to retain fluid (every 6 hours during the day), but this seems to be slowly stabilizing.
He's insured through Trupanion, has established vet care in Seattle and had loads of tests done in internal medicine to find out his water drinking and urination is behavioral (polydipsia/polyuria). He is house-trained and walks to the door to go out. He's been cared for, loved, and currently adored.
90% there with fetch, walks perfectly on leash, decent recall, kennel trained. Knows: no, up, down, sit, off, leave it, let's go, here. Up to date with all vaccines. Can hike or snuggle all day, just tell him what his job is.
In short, Pony is an amazing, intelligent, loving, fun dog! He requires confident and experienced humans to care for him. Don't be distracted by his beauty, he needs strong, loving leadership and won't succeed with less!
