Pistachio is the most loving cat, and his idea of a perfect day is spent cuddled up on a lap. I adopted Pistachio 7 years ago when he was 4, and he'll be turning 12 in May. Found on the street as a kitten, he was adopted and returned to the shelter at 4 due to allergies in the home. He is very friendly and strictly indoors – having no interest in going outside. Pistachio loves meeting new people and is not shy at all.

Due to a change in my living situation, I will no longer be able to keep him in my home. He has spent time with dogs and enjoys their company. Although he happily shared a space with other cats when I adopted him, he has not been with other cats since then because he is a carrier of the Feline herpesvirus (FHV), which he contracted as a kitten. He can be in a home with other carriers but should not be with cats that are not known to carry the virus as it's contagious (to cats only). This condition causes chronic respiratory problems, but he does not receive any ongoing medication or treatment. However, be aware that he is chronically congested, and you should be prepared to deal with some sneezing.

Consider how much time you have available to spend with him. Pistachio would do best with a homebody and tends to complain (sometimes loudly) after too much alone time. He has also shown an intolerance to dry food but does just fine on wet food alone (he's been happy on a diet of Meowmix) . He hates car rides but will tolerate a carrier and does fantastically at the vet.

Pistachio loves fishing treats out of his puzzle box, chasing you up and down stairs, and occasionally playing with a wand toy.
