Biography

This is Chestnut, an 8 month old Redbone Coonhound Mix with a beautiful Chestnut coat. When we took him in, the original owner said that he was good with cats and unfortunately, that turned out not to be true. Chestnut loved trying to play with our cats but they did not like him. He is very large (approx 80 lbs) and easily overpowers them without trying to. This is true for him around small dogs as well, he wants to play but is just too big and powerful.

Chestnut loves other dogs. He would do well in a household with at least 1 other large dog. He is a sweetheart and loves to be wherever you are. Ideally a yard would be helpful or someone who is very active and can take him on long walks or hikes. He is very protective.

We would love to keep him but we don't have the best environment for him to thrive. It's unfair to him and our cats.
He came from a rough start before us and deserves a loving owner and place to call his forever home. Please reach out if interested.
