Gunner is a 2.5 year old male who is half black Labrador and half border collie, and is approximately 50lbs. Gunner requires an experienced dog owner who is either very active (hiking, running, etc) or has land for him to run on. He is neutered, house-trained, kennel-trained and up-to-date on shots. Gunner was originally adopted from the Multnomah County Shelter where he had previously been sent back due to multiple inappropriate adoptions. When I say Gunner is energetic, I mean VERY energetic; but he also has a stopping point where he will relax after he has received exercise.
He has been introduced to cats and did not show any aggression; he also plays very well with other dogs, has not demonstrated any aggression and has excellent recall when being called. Gunner would do better in a home with older children who are able to respect his space. I suspect that he does have a history of abuse, but he is also very loving and sweet.
Some of his quirks: he has food insecurity and will eat anything that is given to him, even if he is full already, he does not like his front paws to be touched and will pull away if someone tries to touch them and lastly, he has separation anxiety so will need to be kenneled if left alone for any period time. His separation anxiety will result in accidents, otherwise.
I "inherited" Gunner after my adult child realized the amount of work that an animal requires; I was hopeful that I could keep Gunner because he is so sweet, however with two full-time working adults in the home and a younger child that has some increased needs, Gunner is not receiving the exercise or attention that he requires. I really want Gunner to find his forever home!
