Biography

Kane is the sweetest boy I have ever met, I adopted him back in February for my birthday and we have been inseparable ever since. He is a mixed pit bull, I am assuming he is mixed with Labrador because of his features and personality. He loves sleeping, especially with lots of pillows and blankets. He is a great lap dog and will not hesitate to snuggle up with you on the couch. He also loves car rides, he doesn’t whine or go crazy in the car and usually sleeps or looks out the window. He loves walks and going to the park. He does tug on his leash sometimes (if he has to pee really bad), other than that he is great on walks.

He has been introduced to and even lived with children of various ages. I was always cautious with him around younger children and kept a close eye on him if they were ever present. He does amazing with older kids. He has also lived with cats and got along with them just fine. He would occasionally chase after them, he never harmed them and eventually stopped so I would say he does fine with cats.

Kane is crate trained! He knows it’s “quiet time” when he goes in crate and also knows it’s time to use the bathroom when he gets out of his crate. I only put him in the crate when I leave for work, any other times he is outside of the crate and chilling in the house with me.

He has some scarring on different parts of his body from his previous home. I was informed that he was an outside dog and may have even been abused. When I adopted him, it took him awhile to warm up to and be comfortable around the men in my household. He is very protective over the people he loves. I have noticed he doesn’t bark very often, which I was very surprised to discover. He will bark if he sees a dog or if he thinks he hears a threat, but he doesn’t bark if he hears a knock or anything like that.

He does well with grooming/bathing. I usually have him lie down on his bed or on the floor to trim his nails and he does great. The most he will do and try to move his paw away, you just have to be patient with him. He has never growled at me or tried to bite me when I groom/bathe him.

I know people food gives him a very upset stomach and diarrhea. I would avoid trying to give him any and keeping your trash lids closed or even out of the way.

Back in March, we were both attacked by another dog and because of this he is best as the only dog in the house. He used to live with and get along with other dogs, but sadly that is no longer the case. You could try to introduce him to other dogs, but I haven’t because I’m not comfortable doing so and don’t want to put him in that situation. He was left with some bad cuts and a swollen neck/jaw. If we’re on a walk and he sees another dog he will just whine or “cry” and tug on his leash, but he has never tried to attack another dog or seem aggressive.

I am devastated having to give him up for adoption, but both of my home and financial situations have changed and I understand giving him to a more capable family is the best thing I can do for him. My dad is also very sick and it is unsanitary for a dog to be in the home. He just needs lots of love and care. He is the sweetest and gentlest baby ever and he deserves the world.
