We adopted Navi about 8 months ago from the League City Animal Shelter, and while she’s very sweet with my wife and I, she doesn’t get along with our other special needs dog and needs to be in another home as the only pet or with parents experienced in integrating with other dogs.
She loves exercise and playtime, including walks, tug of war, and especially keep-away (she loves jumping for toys). She’s potty-trained and crate trained, but takes time to warm up to strangers. She really likes our trainer, a few of our friends that have patiently let her warm up to them, and our dog sitter when we have to go out of town, but we’ve never had her around kids out of an abundance of caution.
We know she can be a fantastic fit with a family that doesn’t need to care for another dog with pre-existing conditions, especially with a family that loves joining her in playtime! It was a very hard decision to rehome her, but we think it’s only fair that both her and our other dog get the attention they need.
We’ve also been walking her through paid obedience training with professionals, and they have agreed to free hand-off lessons to allow for an easier transition to a new home.
