Burger is 3 year Pit-bull possible Catahoula Leopard dog mix. He is housetrained and can be left alone for up to 8 hours with no issues. He was crate trained, but didn't care for it much and would try desperately to escape so we stopped using it. Burger knows how to sit, shake, and is working on laying down among others. He loves to go on walks/runs/hikes, playing fetch in the back yard or at the lake. He plays with his toys, but he also will lounge a good portion of the day. He is good with kids and loves to cuddle.

Burger also has high prey drive towards raccoons, rabbits, and occasional squirrel which means he will lunge and pull on the leash if one is near by, but has been able to show some restraint as of late with training. He would not be good with cats for this reason. If he gets out of the fenced yard, he does run around the neighborhood after them, so a tag or special collar would be necessary if in a neighborhood.

Unfortunately, he does seem to have some resource guarding issues with other dogs which is above our ability to train. That being said he would do best with an experienced dog handler or somewhere without a lot of dogs around. There are 3 "collie" type dogs that walk by our house every day that he does not like. He doesn't get reactive to other dogs walking by, but the 3 "Collies" upset him. Finishing a walk near our house, he was able to pull the leash from my hand and ran across the street to bite the jowl of one of these dogs. He has also lunged at them before, as did they, but we were able to keep hold of him. He is great at the dog park, but will call him to us if he seems uneasy about a certain dog. All in all, he is a great people-family dog, which makes it difficult for us to let him go.
