Biography
Betsy is a sweet loving female American Bulldog who wants nothing more than to spend every moment with her pet humans. She has lots of energy and could play with her dog toys for hours. She loves swimming, belly rubs, and walks. She would love to be able to go everywhere with her family but when she doesn’t go along, she will greet you at the door as soon as you walk in. Like other bulldogs, she is stubborn. Betsy is fully potty trained using a doggy door and has not had any accidents in the house since she was a puppy. Betsy knows many commands (sit, shake, down, roll over, leave it, stay, come, up). She will lay quietly at your feet most of the time when you are home. If not there, she will be laying in her bed or her kennel.
She does not like being told where to go or what to do. She will stubbornly ignore commands if she is sleeping or eating. Betsy is kennel trained and you will often find her sleeping in her kennel with the door open. When she is laying in her kennel after entering on her own, she does not like to have the door closed and becomes aggressive if you try to close it. If you tell her “it’s time for bed” and then let her walk into her kennel, you can close the door behind her without issue.
Betsy has shown aggression towards her female owner. She is much less aggressive with her male owner. Forcefully making her do something will cause aggression. She is stubborn and will ignore commands if she is sleeping or eating. Betsy is kennel trained but doesn't like the door closed and becomes aggressive if you try to close it while she's laying inside. Betsy is overall very healthy. She does take Zoloft daily to manage some anxiety. Twice a year she receives a Cytopoint shot to manage the season change.
