Biography

This is Rusty. He is about 50lbs and is 5 years old. He is a very sweet and loving dog and needs plenty of room to run. He needs lots of exercise. He was recently “fixed” in October 2023
He is a super friendly dog. My daughters who are 11 years old are able to pet him everywhere and even move his lips to make him look like he is talking! He loves all the attention! He walks well on a leash and pinch collar. When I tried using a regular harness he pulled pretty hard. But it seems he was used to a pinch collar before because as soon as I got it out he sat down and stuck his head straight up for me to slid it over his head!
He loves to run a lot! He doesn’t know how to play fetch very well because when I throw a ball or toy for him he runs after it but passes the toy and keeps on running in a circle back to me. It’s so silly! I was easily able to give him a bath in our bathtub at home and he even let we towel him down before jumping out and shaking off so there wouldn’t be quite as much water everywhere.
He is such a good boy and such a loving companion but I just don’t have the time or space to give him the amount of exercise he needs. I’m hoping to find someone with some property for him to run all over. Or maybe someone who enjoys hiking or running.
I also think he would be a great companion to someone who hunts. Sometimes out back he will stand perfectly still while watching birds and doesn’t move an inch even when I talk to him! But as soon as I take a step he’s right there! So I feel he would enjoy hunting.
After looking up a lot of info about different hound breeds I really think he might be a beagle and Brittany spaniel mix. But I’m not sure.
He stays in his large kennel while all of us are at school and work. But I let him sleep on the bed either with me or my kiddos. He loves to snuggle. But I think he would do well in his kennel at night also.
