Biography
Baxter was on the street for about a week this fall hanging out around the American Legion in Ennis. My son brought him to my house for temporary shelter just before the freeze last month. We took him to the vet to see if he was chipped; he is but the vet talked to the owner and the owner did not want him back. He is 63lbs, neutered, heartworm negative and we made sure we got him up to date on all vaccinations. He is very sweet, smart and is quickly learning all his basic commands and walks better on leash every day. He appears to be perfectly house trained. He has shown absolutely no aggression and has loved on everyone he has met. He is a big, strong and very active dog so he's probably not suitable for a home with small children. He currently has his own crate which is attached to a doggie door with his own yard. Since he's only been here a couple weeks, my 3 dogs have been socializing with him through the crate and all 4 have been friendly with each other.
I have since introduced Baxter to my 3 dogs for play time in the back yard. They get along great and play well together. Not an ounce of aggression. Appears that Baxter would be good in a home with any other dog, especially one close to his size, age and activity level. He loves to be with his family & friends, both human and canine.
