Ranger is a 5 year old retriever mix. We got him from a rescue in 2019, we were told he was a stray from Texas. We don’t know much more than that about his background. Ranger is a very calm and loving dog. He was very patient and gentle with my toddler and has always been great with our family cat. He is great with other dogs as well. He rarely ever barks and walks well on a leash. He really is the perfect dog, except for his increasing anxiety. Fireworks, thunder, and repetitive loud noises are his only stressors. Over the past four years, it has gotten progressively worse, and it is now at the point that we think we are at the wrong family for Ranger at this point in his life. We are very busy and active family, always on the go and i truly feel Ranger would thrive with an older couple or adult who is home more often to offset his anxiety. It is very manageable when we are home as we give him two calming chews, and we work through it until the stressor is over. But unfortunately, when we are not home, and there is a trigger, he has been very destructive to our home which is why we are looking to rehome. This has been a very hard decision for our family that we do not take lightly. We really just want to give him the best possible life with someone because he really is such an amazing dog.
