Maverick is a pure bred bloodhound, we’ve had hime since he was 8 weeks old and he is a lovable goofball who wants to be by your side adventuring, exploring and playing. He’s incredibly smart, and loves to follow his nose. He likes to be the leader, and is a little picky when trying new foods. He also has a lot of hound lazy and is happy curling up with a toy and having a lazy day. He’s also very agile and fast, he can jump a 4 foot fence, but always comes when he’s called.
Unfortunately he has some dominance issues, when it comes to food, toys and spaces, which means he is best in a home with no kids. He wants to be top dog 100% of the time. He plays well with other dogs but gets too excited around kids and can hurt them by accident knocking them down. Unfortunately we have two kids and are unable to train him to not try and have dominant behavior towards them- which is a shame because he loves and is very protective of his family and we love him right back, so rehoming him is breaking all of our hearts. In a perfect world he will find a home with only adults, who have space to run or love adventuring outdoors everyday, and understand how to be top dog themselves. We have a second dog too and Maverick loves playing with other pups, again there can be some dominance struggles if allowed but overall he gets along with other dogs really well. He would also be a good work dog, he loves having a job, and has done well around other animals, but doesn’t have much experience with them.
His bay is the most perfect sound in the world and he reserves it for the best times.
